The Unsolved Murders of Chynna and Blake Dickus

A home should be a safe haven for a family. It’s a sanctuary where a family can feel at peace from the outside world. It isn’t a place that someone should invade and take over, and a home isn’t a place where someone should feel unsafe, but that isn’t always the case.

The Dickus Family

Sean Dickus was the divorced father of a young son, but he soon found love again in his new wife, Chynna. Chynna was a wonderful mother to her ten-year-old stepson, Blake. Blake resided with his mother Christina in Franklin, Indiana.

In order for Sean and Chynna to be closer to Blake, they moved from Tennessee and bought a new home in a subdivision in Franklin. They had only lived there a month, but they enjoyed being closer to Blake and getting to spend more time with him.

The Last Lunch

On July 24, 2006, Blake was finishing up a week-long visit with his father and Chynna. He had plans to go home a bit earlier in the day, but Chynna had called his mother, Christina, and asked if he could stay later to have lunch with Sean. Christina didn’t have plans for Blake until later that evening as she had planned to take him to the movies, so she obliged.

Sean arrived home from work at 12:45 p.m. to have lunch with Blake and Chynna. After spending an hour with them, he had to return to work to finish his shift. However, it appears Chynna and Blake may not have been as alone as they had believed.

Tragedy Strikes

When Blake’s mother, Christina, tried to get hold of Chynna to arrange the pick-up of her son, she was met with silence. It wasn’t until Sean arrived home from work that Christina was able to find out why she hadn’t heard from Chynna.

When Sean got home at 5:14 p.m., he found the kitchen door to the garage was open. He didn’t think much of it as Chynna occasionally liked to leave the door open from time to time. However, once Sean walked further inside the home, he found both
