Roadtrips are a unique way to travel. It takes longer than a plane, but it allows the traveler to see the countryside, which is often so what so many people miss and never get to see. However, traveling along the nation's roads doesn't come without risks, especially if one is traveling alone.
Tammy Zywicki
Tammy Zywicki was a 21-year-old college student from Marlton, New Jersey. However, she was attending school at Grinnell College in Iowa. She was an accomplished soccer player and a photographer for the student newspaper. She had spent much of the summer of 1992 in Madrid, Spain, studying for her bachelor's degree in Spanish.
When Tammy returned home to her parent's house in New Jersey in August 1992, she was looking forward to returning to school to finish her senior year of college. It wasn't long before Tammy, and her brother left home to head back to their respective schools.
On the first leg of the trip, on August 23, 1992, the siblings rode together from New Jersey to Illinois. Tammy had plans to drop off her brother at Northwestern University before heading off to her own school in Iowa.
