The Unsolved Murder of Charlene Downes

As children start growing up and becoming teenagers, it can be difficult. They start sprouting off on their own and are no longer under their parents’ constant watchful eye. It’s a time when teens may begin to experiment with actions that may be perilous, and they may be susceptible to the manipulation of other people.

Charlene Downes, age fourteen, moved to Blackpool, England, with her parents, Robert and Karen, and her siblings when she was just ten years old. It wasn’t the easiest of childhoods as there had been some problems within the family, but otherwise, she was a typical teenager. Charlene loved spending time with her friends, pop music, and movies.

November 1, 2003

On November 1, 2003, Charlene and her sister, Rebecca, spent the day together. They enjoyed their time together and had lunch. Rebecca decided she wanted to head home for the evening, but Charlene wasn’t entirely done and wanted to spend time with her friend.

After the girls arrived home, Charlene’s mom walked her to the Church Street bus stop at 7:15 p.m. and kissed her…
