Sending your child off to college can be a scary proposition. They are leaving the nest and spreading their wings for the first time. All children need to grow up and move on, but allowing them to do so and worrying about their safety is something parents would like to avoid at times.

Ann Harmeier

Ann Harmeier was a 20-year-old college student from Cambridge City, Indiana. She grew up as an only child who was raised by her mother, Marjorie. Sadly, Ann’s father had died when she was just 4-years-old.

Ann was a kind and generous young woman. She was also known as a talented acting student. She was a junior at her university and maintained honor level status at the school.

Missing

On September 12, 1977, Ann was returning to Indiana University’s Bloomington campus when she experienced car trouble. It was later determined the car’s thermostat had gone bad. Ann was forced to pull over on State Route 37 just two miles north of Martinsville.
