A night out with friends is a time to look forward to and a moment to enjoy. It’s a chance to blow off some steam and shred the stress so many of us deal with during our normal day-to-day lives. However, a night out shouldn’t lead to a police investigation.
Brian Shaffer
Brian Shaffer was a 27-year-old second-year medical student at Ohio State University with a bright future ahead of him. He had a beautiful girlfriend by the name of Alexis Waggoner, who was also a second-year medical student.
Besides becoming a doctor, Brian had always dreamed of being in a rock band. He was a massive fan of Pearl Jam and even had the band’s logo tattooed on his arm. He would have loved to live that lifestyle but chose something a bit more calm.

In the early morning hours of April 1, 2006, Brian was spending a night out on the town with his roommate, William “Clint” Florance. It was the beginning of spring break, and Brian had been dealing with quite a bit of stress. Besides school, his mother had just passed away from bone cancer three weeks earlier.
