Reentering the Public School System After a Pandemic
As a teacher, I never imagined I’d be teaching online for an entire year, and I am grateful to be back in school with my students.
Who could have ever imagined a pandemic would come along and bring the entire world to its knees? Certainly, society has faced pandemics before, but except for only a very few alive today, it is a distant memory and something that is only discussed in history books. Most of us couldn’t even have imagined living through a pandemic when the clock struck midnight on New Year’s Day 2020.
Although there were inklings of what was to come in just a few short months. The news mentioned stories coming out of China regarding a new strain of coronavirus that was killing their citizens. I had wondered how seriously I should take these stories and if I should be concerned. The news sounded dire, but how bad could it really be? I was about to find out.
