A Killer in Louisiana
The unsolved murder of 17-year-old Carol Ann Cole.
Carol Ann Cole grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan with her grandmother and her younger sister, Jeanie. However, when Carol Ann was fifteen she decided she wanted to live with her mother in San Antonio, Texas. It would be the last time her grandmother and sister would ever see her.
Life started out well for Carol Ann while living with her mother, Sue Cole, in Texas, but eventually, the situation took a turn when Carol Ann started to hang out with the wrong crowd. As she grew older she started getting into trouble and her mother became worried about her when she noticed her daughter was drinking and doing drugs. At the age of seventeen Sue placed her daughter in a rehabilitation facility in Austin, Texas.
Carol Ann remained in the Palmer Drug Abuse Program from May 1980 until October 24, 1980. At that point, she ran away from the program. Instead of going home to her mother or even back to her grandmother and sister in Michigan, she made her way to Shreveport, Louisiana.
It didn’t appear Carol Ann was trying to avoid her family members. She actively called and wrote letters to all of them on a regular basis and kept them up to date on her day-to-day life. In late December 1980, she called her grandmother to let her know she was babysitting for a local…
